A year to remember
It’s that time of year again when we like to reflect and take stock of what has happened over the last 12 months. This year saw many changes and challenges and I would like to share these with our wonderful stakeholders who help us so much on a day by day basis.
Products & Services:
2025 saw the company bring in a whole new department known as the Major Projects Team. As the name suggests, the team has been set up to source and run larger, longer term projects using the skills of our multi-disciplined workforce and sourcing external contractors where required.
This mammoth step has seen the company involved in projects on a far larger scale than previously tackled and given us access to tenders which would never have crossed the desk. Given the confidential nature of the works we cannot elaborate further but we are honoured to be undertaking work for MOD contractors on a number of Wiltshire bases.
The Construction Team has continued to expand. We are particularly proud that more of our employees have gained full Firestopping Accreditation and we are winning far more jobs in this field. We have taken on more construction specialists to support Major Projects as well as working on independent orders.
Whilst less emphasis has been placed on Renewables this year, we remain fully accredited for Solar PV and Air Source Heat Pumps and our Battery Storage certification is imminent. We also launched our Quinns Renewables website which details what we can offer in the field of Renewable energy.
Given the large-scale diversification that has taken place in 2025, our MD is contemplating a possible name change for the business- so watch this space!
Again we must emphasise that that the delivery of our M & E projects remains paramount and this constant source of work on vital sites in and around the area is never taken for granted and the company remains committed to providing a fully accredited and compliant range of services to our loyal and valued client base.
Employees:
It goes without saying that business could not perform as it does without our excellent team of engineers and office staff. This applies equally to our longer serving personnel and to those we have been delighted to bring on board this year.
In 2025, we welcomed eight new members to the team with a further four due to start in January. This is a marked increase in staff numbers from the same period last year which reflects our growth strategy. There is also a increasing pool of sub-contractors who work with us all year round and remain an invaluable source of support for the business. We held a Team Get Together in October this year to welcome and introduce all the additional team members; this event was well received and we hope to do something similar next year.
Staff retention and welfare is at the heart of what we are looking to achieve. The directors continue to assess how we can build on the package and benefits we offer whilst embracing the recent legislation changes in employee rights. We are working to constantly improve how we mange, train and appraise our staff as well as implementing a transparent company structure alongside a Pay and Grading Structure. We are keen to help all team members with career progression which we hope will be more pertinent given the size of the business we now work for. The comprehensive Staff Handbook will be updated for 2026 to reflect any further updates in employee legislation.
Kris and the directors would like to express a huge depth of gratitude to all the staff for their efforts and loyalty in 2025 and we look forward to welcoming everybody to our Christmas Party later this month.
Challenges & Ambitions:
The expansion and integration of a new team was not without its challenges:
We have added yet more vans to our fleet, so much so that we are considering employing a dedicated Vehicle Manager going forward.
The increased staff numbers also means a busier HR function and we have regularly sought advice from our wonderful HR Partner, Access2HR.
Increased staff numbers and vehicles has also meant we need more space! We are delighted to confirm that a new unit is being acquired to make sure we all have somewhere to sit in 2026!
Our IT and Marketing needs are also evolving and we have brought on Sarum Tech to help with the technical side whilst working with our friends at Dolphin Outsourcing to promote ourselves during this transition.
The business could not expand without financial support and bringing in Bibby Financial Services has been an excellent move and we are delighted how they have grasped what our company is about and for their proactive approach.
2025 also saw an increased number of audits and Certifications and we have successfully negotiated our way through these. We are grateful to the various bodies and the auditors themselves for their encouragement and guidance.
Challenges are of course part and parcel of running an SME but these will not stand in our way going forward. We see 2026 as a year of consolidation where we make sure that we deliver on our promises to complete projects on time and in budget. The Directors would like to see our Apprentices continue their studies and complete their qualifications and see our staff complete further training and accreditations. We look forward to settling in our new home, improving our main website and implementing our re-organisation in full.
Summary
It’s only when you take a step back and reflect on the year that we realise just how much has been achieved. We sincerely hope that all the changes we have made secure our immediate future and beyond.
In the meantime, on behalf of our MD Kris Quinn, Quinns M & E would like to wish all our clients, suppliers and partners and stakeholders a wonderful Christmas, a prosperous New Year and a huge thank you for your unwavering support.
